Leave Letter: Leave Application is a formal way to acknowledge the belongings department about the absenteeism.
There is a bit different application writing procedure for students and employee, we will discuss here both in brief.
Taking benefits of work day off without submitting a leave application is obviously not only the violation of organization policy but the carrier of an employee can be affected.
An employee or student is an applicant for off day from his work, basically leave application is a term of the law that permits the workers and students for a break from duty. Every institute has its own leave policies, organizations that works under the government, follow government orders similarly, students pursue their institute rules.
Leave Policy For Education Department
Every state has its laws about leave policy here, I can only describe the Indian government leave plan for education department. Generally, a leave notification letter issued by the educational secretory for annual leave, holidays leave, religious holiday leave, festival leave, and national day leave. All education providing institute remain closed in these days.
In case of sickness, students and teachers are entitled to Sick leave.
In case of urgent or essential work, students and teachers are entitled to Casual leave.

Leave Policy For Employee
A government or commercial institute can not be shut down for the sake of holidays, some departments remain working on holidays, and some gives 24 hours services. So, their leave policies are a bit different from each other. An employee can get different types of leave; some are as under.
Types of Leave Application
1. Sick Leave
A student or an employee can call for sick leave in case of sickness, due to illness an employee can stay at home without losing pay for addressing his health after writing a sick leave application to his belongings institute. Most departments do not permit an employee to remain on sick leave for more than 10 days. In case of serious illness, Students and employees would have to submit a medical letter to their organization.
2. Medical Leave
Medical leave is also a part of sick leave; only doctors can suggest to his patient. Mostly the government employees get medical allowance included in their monthly payment but some organizations offer medical facilities to their employees and their family like the military. Medical leave also may be granted in case of medical operation of the employee and his family like eye operation, heart operation, etc.

3. Quarantine Leave
Quarantine leave can only be granted to those students/teachers/employees who are suffering from any infectious disease, which is dangerous to the health of other students in the school or employees in the institute.

4. Casual Leave
Students and employees can write a leave application to demand work off day due to any urgent or significant reason or any obscure matter, and they would have to discuss it in the leave application. Institute authorizes their employees only a few couples of days to address their important or essential works. Some kinds of casual leaves are below,

5. Parental Leave
Parental Leave / Personal / Carer’s Leave and Compassionate Leave.
Parental leave or Paternity or Family leave in which an employee is allowed to take leave for his family. It is regularly paid leave. A male employee can only take a maximum of 15 days paid paternity leave in case of childbirth or adoption, and he would have to present a childbirth certificate. Every institute has its regulations about leave t also depends upon the destination between the workplace and home place. Some institute gives journey time leave combined in allowed leave. Some institute offers residential facilities like family quarters to their employees, but such a facility can not be provided frequently to every employee.
6. Maternity Leave
Welfare for a female employee when she reaches the birth period. Maternity Leave approved for a female employee before and after birth for his child. A female employee can take a minimum of 12 weeks and a maximum of 26 weeks paid maternity leave and can take additional maternity leave up to 16 months, but additional will be count as unpaid leave.
Only those female employees who are giving 1st and 2nd Childbirth are qualified to take 26 weeks paid maternity leave, and at the time of third childbirth, limit degrades to 12 weeks paid leave only, and additional will be calculated unpaid. This type of leave can be practiced in case of miscarriage or abortion but every situation has a different limit of leave.

7. Earned Leave or Privilege Leave
Annual Leave / Vacation Leave / Flexi Holidays.
Earned or privilege leave is paid leave. This type of leave based on the working days or how long an employee had worked for the organization. Indian government rules for earned leave having some differences between younger workers under 18 years can earn one day by working 15 workdays and adult above 18 years can earn one day by 20 working days, however mostly institute offer one day for 20 working days except holidays.
8. Community Service Leave
Community service leave or Emergency service is paid leave. The best example of this leave can be taken from Australia when a fire occurs, both government and private employees had taken community services Leave to join the community and emergency services. A government employee can take up to 20 days of community leave to join the emergency services in case of natural disasters, earthquakes, floods, fire emergencies. An employee can only participate in those emergency or volunteer services whose are government registered institutes.
9. Half pay leave
This type of leave is unpaid leave, only a government employee can take this leave once in a year. During the leave period, the employee will receive half pay or basic pay only. When an employee has no leave in his credit and he still requires to leave, then he has only half pay leave options.
10. Long Service Leave
Long service is an international law, an Australian employee can get 90 days paid long service leave after completing 10 years of service.
11. Study Leave / Sabbatical Leave
Study or sabbatical leave is paid leave somewhere unpaid, it depends on the duration of the leave. A government employee can take paid study leave to continue his higher education like scholarship, advance knowledge courses. Colleges and Universities offer subtotal leave to their employees like a laboratory in charge, game coaching staff so that they can update their experience for the institute.
12. Transfer Leave
Transfer leave is basically a journey time leave, may be granted to an employee at the time of his transfer, so he can manage the distance and rejoin the new appointment easily.
This type of leave may granted to an employee in case of the death of his family member. Duration of leave is a maximum of 35 days, but there is no specific policy in India for bereavement leave. Some companies are granting bereavement leave to their employees.
Holidays are approved by the government and are always paid like 15th august national holiday, 26 january, and 2nd october. Holidays never be counted in leave credit of an employee. Other some types of holidays in India are under,
1. Weekend Leave or Weekly Holiday
An employee can take one or two weekly holidays in a month. It depends upon the institute policy. However, weekend leave starts from saturday till sunday of the week. Sometimes it becomes longer when a religious or national holiday comes at the corner of a weekly holiday, suppose a National Holiday is coming over on friday then a weekly holiday can be granted for three days.
2. Night pass
If a weekend leave could not be sanctioned to an employee due to the institute works, he can take a chance of night pass leave start from saturday evening till sunday.
Most of the religious observation or religious festival granted as holidays by the government of India. Still, employees who belong to different religions can be granted holidays on the day of the religious festival.
4. Compensatory Off
An employee who had to work on a holiday, he can take Compensatory off (A day leave on any other working day).
5. Out pass
Out pass generally be granted for a few hours, this kind of leave commonly seems in cadet colleges, Police coaching centers, and military trainees.
